The Goddard Center Presents Exhibition
Jack Dowd
September 7 - November 24, 2010
Jack Dowd is quickly
making a name for himself as one of America’s foremost,
contemporary sculptors. His life-size works are viewed
on continuing exhibitions in museums and galleries
collected by private, public and corporate patrons.
Dowd’s “Last Call” sculpture installation is a cultural
tribute to the vibrancy of American nightlife. The
installation consists of 13 unique life size sculptures,
which are based on the type of people typically found in
a New York bar. These sculptures will be placed around a
beautiful mahogany bar complete with sawdust, music,
interactive video games, and a pool table.

The Gathering
by John Kingerlee |
Paintings are
touchstones, a myriad of paint strokes, each with
their own specific gravity, valence, and charge.
From this magical contact, from this continual
return, an image emerges, as if rising from the
surface like a mirage. This simple miracle of the
painter's art, of the material passing into the
phenomenal, like the body transfigured into spirit,
is at the heart of John Kingerlee's work.
