Outreach Program
In keeping with the Goddard Center’s mission to provide cultural opportunities to all populations in our community, an
Art Education Outreach Program was established in 2005. The
Center's Outreach Program provides instruction in performing
and visual arts for the youth of South Central Oklahoma. The
Outreach Program is specially committed to providing visual
art instruction at no cost to school districts that have no
formalized art instruction K through fifth grade. The Center
also provides intensive workshops by visiting artists to
area high schools with no Advanced Placement Art Program.
The
Center's Performing Arts Outreach Program includes
educational matinee concerts by touring performers. Area schools
provide transportation to the Center's Performing Arts
Theatre during the school day for these exceptional
concerts.
The Outreach Dance Program is a partnership with Dallas
Black Dance Theatre II. DBDT II Artist Director,
Allyne Gartrell,
travels yearly to Ardmore Schools to help encourage and
teach dance.
All Outreach Programs are free of charge to participants. The Center also provides scholarships to outreach students to attend regularly scheduled seasonal classes at the Art Studios. We believe that it is important to integrate the various groups of students that we serve.
Local organizations participating in our Outreach Program are the H.F.V. Wilson Center, an after school program for minority youth, Gloria Ainsworth Day Care, a non-profit child care facility, and Take Two Academy, a school for at risk youth . Additionally, both the Ardmore City Schools and the Ringling school system have participated this year.
These students participate in a variety of class subjects offered at the Art Studios including Drawing & Painting, Mixed Media, Clay and Dance.
We always extend a special invitation to Outreach program participants when we have lectures and educational workshops at the Center.
