Outreach Program

In keeping with the Goddard Center’s mission to provide cultural opportunities to all populations in our community, an Outreach Program was established in 2005. This program is designed specifically for youth at-risk and individuals with disabilities, including seniors unable to access our programming.

The Center is committed to providing art instruction to at-risk youth, economically disadvantaged families, and individuals with disabilities. This program allows us to provide art instruction and cultural opportunities to populations traditionally identified as underserved.

Schools provide transportation for students participating in the program to our Art Studios facilities where they receive art instruction at no cost. Unlike the year round instruction in our art studios, the Outreach Program is specifically designed to accommodate the underserved populations previously mentioned.

All Outreach Programs are free of charge to participants. The Center also provides scholarships to outreach students to attend regularly scheduled seasonal classes at the Art Studios. We believe that it is important to integrate the various groups of students that we serve.

Local organizations participating in our Outreach Program are H.F.V. Wilson Center, an after school program for minority youth, Gloria Ainsworth Day Care, a non-profit child care facility, and Take Two Academy, a school for youth at-risk. The institution with the largest number of participating students in our outreach program is Take Two Academy for at-risk youth.

These students participate in a variety of class subjects offered at the Art Studios including Drawing & Painting, Mixed Media, and Clay. A new component of this Outreach Program is modern dance instruction.

Choreographer and dance instructor Erin Brown Craven will be giving lessons to students at the Take Two Academy interested in studying modern dance. The City of Ardmore provides transportation to our studios for Wilson Center students participating in the Outreach Program.

We always extend a special invitation to Outreach program participants when we have lectures and educational workshops at the Center.
